Management Consulting in Action |
PhD defence Irene Skovgaard Smith from Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy has submitted a PhD thesis entitled:
Management Consulting in Action - Value creation and ambiguity in client-consultant relations
The PhD thesis is an empirically based study of management consulting in the context of two assignments undertaken by two Danish consulting firms. The assignments were characterised by extensive consultant involvement in change implementation and engagement with a range of managers and employees in the client organisation. The thesis explores patterns of how the consultants and what they do are experienced and defined by these different internal actors in the two client organisations. The purpose is to show how consultants become positioned in the social contexts they enter and what opportunities and limitations this position creates.
